Mass Update User Defined Categories

User-defined categories allow you to create data fields for data that web2school does not store. These fields allow you to store unique data about each student in your database. For example, you could store Locker Number in one field and Combination in another. You could include after-school activities, club membership, etc. If you have one student or a group of students with the same user defined data, you can use the global assigning process to add the data to the student database. Using the Assign Global Data - User Defined Categories window you can select a User Defined field and enter the data that should be stored there for a number of students, by gender, one or more years of graduation, one or more homerooms, or all students in a sub-category.

Steps

1. Click on the Tools Menu and select Global.
2. Click on the Global Menu and select Student. From the Student Menu, select User Defined Categories to display the Assign Global Data - User Defined Categories Window.
3. Click on the arrow in the Select Category field and select the User Defined field to which you will be adding data.
4. Click in the Enter Data For Category field and type the data to be saved in the selected Category.
5. Click on the arrow in the Assign Data To field and select the group of students to which you are assigning data. For each option in the Assign Data To field there are corresponding fields below that must be completed. They are as follows:

If you selected Student, use the student search window to generate a list of students to choose from, then click Get List.Click in the box next to the students whose names you wish to assign, and click OK

If you selected Year of Graduation, click in the box next to the years of graduation to be assigned

If you selected Homeroom, click in the box next to the homerooms you wish to assign.

If you selected Gender, click in the box next to the gender you wish to assign.

If you selected Category, click in the Category field and select a category. Then click the box beside the appropriate Sub-Categories listed.

If you selected All Students you do not need to provide any additional information.

6. Click OK to begin assigning.
