- Click on the Administration Menu
and select Teacher Desk.
- If you are an administrator, click on the arrow in the Teacher
field and select the teacher for which you wish to add an
assignment type. If you are a teacher, your name should be
displayed in the Teacher field and your courses will be listed.
- Click on the course for which you are adding Assignment Types.
- Click the Assignments button
on the left of the window to display the Assignment
Information window.
- In the Assignment Types section,
click Add to
display the Add Assignment Type window.
- Click in the Type field and
enter the name of this assignment type (limit 10 characters).
Note: Assignment types are sorted by term and then by name. If you
wish to have them display in a particular order, type a number before
the name, such as 01 Homework, 02 Class Participation (use 2 digit numbers). You may use up to 100 characters.
- Click in the Weight field and enter the weight of this assignment type (i.e. homework is 50, class participation is 10, and quizzes are 40). The totals do not actually have to equal 100, as the system will perform the calculation as a ratio.
If you prefer to weight grades based on the point value of the assignments themselves, create only one Assignment Type per term with a weight of 100 and put all of your assignments inside that type.
- Click in the External Reference Links field and enter the web address of a page that students may refer to regarding this assignment. This link will display when you click on the assignment in the Student Guardian module.
- Check off each term during which you will be using this Assignment Type.
Remember to create appropriate assignments types for each term. Do not continue to add assignments to Term 1 assignment types. For example, if you have a Term 1 assignment type called Homework and you also want to assign homework in Term 2, you will need to create an assignment type called Homework in Term 2.
- Click OK to add the
Assignment Type to the list.
- Click OK on the Assignment
Information window to save.
