Averages And Exams

This window allows you to enter Term, Semester and Final grades and exam grades for each student in your class. In addition, you can enter up to two pre-configured comments from your comment list and one free form comment. This data is then exported to the main system allowing school administrators to compile Report Cards for each student in the school.

Averages and exams are typically entered from the Teacher Desk. However, the same information resides under the legacy Course Configuration window. There are two Edit Averages and Exams windows. Edit Averages and Exams by Student displays all report card information for one student at a time. Edit Averages and Exams by Course displays a single term grade for all students in the class in a spread sheet format.

If you are entering assignment information and grades, by selecting the Term Average Details tab, you can view the assignment type percentages that were used to calculate the current term averages. For example, you could see that John has a homework average of 86% and a Project average of 50%. This tells you where he needs to work harder.

If you are using Daily Grades and allowing the program to continuously calculate a student's term average, you only need to enter comment numbers and class absences. (Comments and absences are optional). If you are not using the Daily Grades features, you must type in an average for each student. If you enter a numerical average, the program determines the equivalent letter value using the Grade Ranges information. If you enter a letter, the program determines the mid-range number for that letter using the Grade Ranges information. The View button next to the Course name allows you to switch back and forth between letters and numbers.

Comments are entered using comment numbers. The main system has a master comment database for Report Cards. Using the numbers from that list, you would enter one or two comments per student. Free form comments can be entered by selecting a student and clicking the View Notes button.

You can override a calculated grade by typing over it. That grade will display in bold to indicate that it is no longer calculated. To return to the calculated grade, click in the field containing the grade, right-click and select Turn Auto Calc On..
