Teacher Resources

Note: If you build your master schedule by hand and type it into the program or if you are re-using an existing master schedule, you do not need to enter Teacher Resources.

The Teacher Resources window allows you enter information on the teachers available to instruct courses within each department (resource). For example, you could create a Teacher Resource called Eng which contains three teacher positions. If you then created English 101 Section 1 in your Preliminary Section data and indicated that the teacher was to be selected from the Eng resource, the program would select one of the three teachers when it builds the master schedule. You do have the option of selecting a specific teacher within a resource, if you do not want the program to select a teacher for you. When creating teacher resources keep in mind that teachers who work in multiple departments should only be included in one resource.

Positions in teacher resources are linked to teachers in the Personnel database. For example, the Eng resource has three positions. Position 1 is linked to teacher ID 7 Mrs. Brown, Position 2 is linked to teacher ID 9 Mrs. Coleman, but Position 3 is not linked to any teacher. You do not need to link teacher positions to real teachers right away. If you are not sure what your staffing will be for the coming year, you can build the master schedule using just the positions in the teacher resources and associate real teachers with those positions later.
