View Honor Roll Configuration
Data in this window is configured for you by Wicked Good Software
when you purchase the Grade Reporting System. The Honor Roll window
allows you to view the Honor Roll rules established by your school.
Up to three different Honor Rolls can be configured. Read the field
definitions below the two Honor Roll windows for detailed information
on possible Honor Roll configurations.
- Name: You can define a
different name for each Honor Roll. This name is printed at the top
of the Honor Roll list and is also stored in the database along with
the Honor Roll average for each student. Each student's Honor Roll
name and average can be viewed using the View
GPA/QPA Information window on the student screen.
- Honor Roll Average: This is
the minimum average that the student must have to be included on the
Honor Roll. This would be the average of grades in courses that are
set to be included in Honor Roll. See the Honor Rolls Tab on the GPA/QPA
Calculations window for information on the calculation being
used to determine the average.
- Unweighted/Weighted Honor Roll:
This option indicates whether the track value for the course or the
system's unweighted track value is used in the average calculation.
If the system's unweighted track value is being used, then all grades
are treated equally.
- Min/Max Grade: This option
allows you to give a range of grade values that the student can have
and still be included on the Honor Roll. In the graphic shown above
the student must have at least 4 grades with a value of 4.0 (A's) and
no more than 2 grades with a value of 3 (B's). No other grades are allowed.
- Advanced: This option opens
the window shown below and gives you access to additional Honor Roll
Rules. Those rules are described below the Advanced window.
- Only One Grade In Range......:
This option lets you allow a low grade offset by a high grade to
count for Honor Roll. For example, if a student has one C (2.0) that
is offset by an A (4.0) they would still be on the Honor Roll.
- No Grade Less Than....: This
option eliminates students from the Honor Roll if they have a grade
lower than the number indicated in courses that are not good for
Honor Roll. They could have a grade lower than the number indicated
in courses that are good for Honor Roll unless that is covered by
another rule. In the window displayed above, students could not have
any grade lower than a B (3.0) in a course that is not good for Honor Roll.
Note: To make a Course good for Honor Roll you must go to the Courses
- Calculation Tab on the Course Information window and check the
Include in Honor Roll box.
- Minimum Number Of Courses: This
option requires that students be taking a specific number of classes
that are good for Honor Roll. For example, if the requirement is two
classes, and the student is taking three classes that are not good
for Honor Roll, he would not be on the Honor Roll. However, if two of
the three classes are listed as good for Honor Roll, he would be on
the Honor Roll.
- Minimum Number Of Credits: This
option requires that students be taking classes that are good for
Honor Roll and that the total credit per grading period value of
those classes be the number specified here. For example, if the
requirement is 1.00 then in a typical school the student must be
taking four classes that are good for Honor Roll with a credit per
grading period of .25 each to meet the requirement.
- Exclude Student From Honor Roll If
Report Card Class Attendance Is: This option allows you to
search for a specific number in the class attendance column on the
report card for courses that are good for Honor Roll. Schools that
use this option typically put in a special code (i.e. 99) for
students who are excluded from Honor Roll for excessive absences,
disciplinary problems, etc.
- Incompletes: If a student
receives an Incomplete (grade must be the letter I) in courses that
are good for Honor Roll the program can exclude the student from the
Honor Roll, skip that grade when calculating Honor Roll or average
the incomplete into the Honor Roll average using the grade value of
the incomplete.
