The Discipline Information window allows you to create a database of the types of information you can assign to students that have disciplinary problems. Using this window you can create lists of Infractions, Actions, Suspension/Detention Types, Places, Times, Weapons, and Special Education status. Items can be added to these lists as needed throughout the school year.
Properties and Types are special lists within Discipline that allow you to categorize other data such as Infractions or Actions Taken. The ability to break down lists of infractions into specific groups permits more detailed reporting and allows you to more easily fulfill state and federal reporting requirements. For example, if you create a property called Damage, you can assign that property to infractions such as Carved on Desk, Wrote on Bathroom Wall, Broke Window etc., later when you do reports you can choose to base your reports only on infractions that fall within the Damage grouping.
In addition to a property, a type can be added to many of the lists. Types also allow you to do more refined reporting. For example, you may want to break your Infractions into Violent and Non-Violent infractions. Some reports require lists of weapons based on whether or not the weapon is a Firearm or Non-Firearm, Concealed or Not Concealed. By creating Types and assigning those types to the Weapons, you can later print reports based on Weapons that are Firearms or Weapons that are Not Firearms.
NOTE: You cannot delete or modify an item if it has been assigned to any student in your database during this school year. Items that have never been assigned in this school year can be deleted or modified.
