Assign Homerooms Based On Student Schedules

Most schools assign students either to a teacher (for elementary schools) or a Homeroom (for middle and high schools). Homerooms can be associated with teachers on the Personnel Information Window - Homeroom Tab. Using the Assign By Student Schedule window you can give students a homeroom that corresponds to a piece of data in their schedule. For example, you can give them the room number of their first period class, the course and section number of that class or the name of the teacher as their homeroom.

You can assign one or more years of graduation, the whole school, a list of students or all students in a sub-category to homerooms.

Note: Students must have schedules in the Scheduling System for this option to work.

Note: If you use this method to assign students to homeroom, you may periodically wish to change students homerooms for reporting purposes. For example, if you distribute report cards during the last period of your day, you can temporarily set homerooms to the room number of students' last period class. Then, print report cards sorted by homeroom. Pass the report cards to the teachers and then assign homerooms again based on students' first period class.
